Well I think we're all in agreement things need to dramastically improve. Best thing I think is to forget it and move on.

???The best thing isn't to forget about it at all. The best thing is to look at the game closely. We lost to a rubbish team WHY? Because of our teams awful level of fitness and our attitude. My advice is if you struggled on sunday fitness-wise (which i admit i did) then go running every night this week. I think we are trying to get a friendly match on thursday night at Rectory. We need to sort our attitude out too. There's no reason to give up, look at the second half we got the score level in about 8 minutes. It's only one defeat let's sort it out and play to the level we are capable of.

If we don't change anything we'll probably do the same thing next game. Fitness needs to be better and we need to play as a team. As annoying as those Kurds were to play against, we easily had the ability to outpass and outplay them. If anyoneone else is up for it I reckon we should go on a longish jog one evening this week cos it will make a difference on sunday.

We need not only the back four to man mark but the midfield to as well. Obviously the other team's midfield will change position and cross over etc more than the strikers. But in a similar way to how the back four do we need eight players responsible for at least there strikers and all their midfield. It'll still mean were probably have a two man advantage (i.e. 8 vs 6) so providing we successfully pick up one player each there should still be one midfielder and one defender to act as a 'safety' or 'holding' player to help out if an opponent beats their defender. The key of course is still fitness, i think until the fitness levels improve the approach we should enforce is don't go forward unless you are prepared to come back.

On a serious note. I don't think we should all get too carried away about sunday. Yes it was dire but it was our first game, we haven't really done any proper training yet and we are all unfit. The fitness is problem but I don't think that should really be a problem till the second half and we actually played nutse in the first half. We just need to play such a simple game there were alot of people on sunday who talked a good game but couldn't actually play the game. We need more communication, more aggression and people working for each other. We have got a good squad of players and in time with fitness and some coaching under our belts we are gonna get better.

I think we should go by one of the best musical lyrics of all time... "Pass and move, its the Liverpool grove". Seriously, more passing than running with it individually. Is an old cliche but "let the ball do the work", passing the ball around splits up the opposition and makes them tire rather than ourselves. Jamie's point about marking is good, the solution to the opposition changing positions during the game lies with people knowing the roles of their position, that way rather than picking a man each and following them all game and straying out of position, you can play "zonal marking" but to do this each player needs to clearly understand which area of the pitch they are responsible for picking up players in. More shots on goal would help too. There keeper looked more shaky than me! (hard I know!) but he was only small no any pressure from high shots and lots of crosses would have destroyed the Kurds. We need to realize how to attack teams differences. Obviously when Dodman plays this will be alot easier as we will have an obvious target man. Lets put the result behind us, but not forget the performance as reflecting on the bad can help.
On a lighter note, if this game goes ahead on thursday will it be on the astroturf? If it was light enough depending on kick off time, they may be willing to play at "The Set" seeing as it is owned by Rectory. Much better on grass. Having said that the ball moves faster on astro so may improve our reaction times. Am I making any sense. Nope, didn't think so as per usual.
Jamie, any chance of Charlotte Church on badger birds shes looking a bit good in recent videos!

Just a point about an early kick off on Thursday Marler, some people may not be able to make that due to work. So a late kick off would be better suited. And as far as the midfield went on Sunday, I know we were terrible, but zonal marking was so hard as their midfield was all over the place! No excuse but hopefully you can understand a bit, plus it became harder when we were basically down to 9 men with no real set positions.

Scott: "but zonal marking was so hard as their midfield was all over the place!"
Thats the whole point of zonal marking! You let them move around and when a player comes into your specific area you pick him up and mark him!
